How to Make Moussaka Recipe. Moussaka is an eggplant or potato-based dish, often including ground meat, in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire, with many local and regional variations. In Turkey, it is sautéed and served in the style of a casserole, and consumed warm or at room temperature. In
Arabic countries, a variant is eaten cold. In the Balkans, the dish is layered and typically served hot.
Ingredients:
- White sauce – 1/2 cup
- Boiled sliced potato – 1 cup
- Cooked mince – 1/2 cup
- Chopped tomato – 2
- Mozzarella cheese – 1/4 cup
Method:
- Take an oven prof dish, place a potato layer.
- Then spread mince, then chopped tomatoes.
- Again spread potato layer, then pour white sauce.
- On top sprinkle cheese and bake in 200ºF preheated for 20 to 25 minutes.
Ingredients for white sauce
- Butter – 3 tbsp
- Flour – 3 tbsp
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Mozzarella cheese – 50 gm
- Crushed black pepper – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
Method:
- Take a pan, heat up butter and sauté flour, make sure it does not change the color.
- Now add cheese, black pepper, salt and milk, cook until it becomes thick sauce.
